Mayur organized a lovely prayer meet for Gauri, to remember her fondly. Here is a little piece I wrote to share my fond memories of Gauri.
They say that everyone enters your life for a reason? I wholeheartedly believe that to be true. I have been lucky to have met some of the most amazing people who will have a lasting impact on my life. Each person has contributed to who I am in some way, shape, or form, and for that I am grateful. There are certain people, though — who have a very special place in your heart. The ones you will never forget and can’t thank enough for crossing your path.
When I met Gauri for the first time, I thought it was a passing encounter - it ended up lasting 26 years and counting. Gauri was a ball of energy, she always had a ton of stuffed planned - always needed to have multiple projects that she was working on. Whether it was hosting the ideal party, planning the perfect outing, helping Reema make her time-machine or planning for the perfect Saree for Dhruv's Munjha - she did it with all her heart, she never took shortcuts.
She loved being surrounded by lots of friends and put in a lot of effort at organizing get togethers, to ensure that everyone met often. Gauri had a big impact on many lives, in a short time. While we've all been lucky to be blessed with a wonderful group of friends, there was no one as lively and funny as Gauri - she was always the centre of attention and enjoyed it. And I imagine that she will continue to be central to our discussions for years to come.
It wasn't always hunky dory, we would have our moments of disagreements and times where we would not talk for days; but her absence always left you hankering - she was the kind of a person you couldn't live without!!
If there is anything I have learned from her untimely passing, it is that, time is truly precious. We never know when will be the last time we see someone. I have learned to make more time for the people I care about, even if it’s a few minutes. Be it a text or phone call, I make the extra effort. To each person you care about and love — make sure they know. Hug your loved ones a little tighter. Enjoy your time with them. Have lots of Cheesecake, Coffee and Single Malts, take mini trips, tons of pictures and make many memories. Accomplish all you can and follow your heart. Fill your life with all things that make you happy, as best you can. Little things matter most!
If she is watching this from her new abode, knowing her she would've researched multiple ways to achieve that too - I think she would approve of the turnout and the success of this event :)!!
I will leave you with a little thought, I think Gauri would wholeheartedly concur with - Life's unpredictable - EAT DESSERT FIRST!!
Gauri, You will be missed!!
